The need for better packaging materials is real worldwide

380 million tonnes of plastic is produced every year.
Since 1950s more than 8.3 billion tonnes of plastic has been produced. It is unknown where most of that plastic has gone. has been recycled and about 1% more than once. 8 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year.
Consequences of massive production and lack of recycling of plastics call us for urgent change to sustainable materials.

Over 80% of Americans have access to recycling programmes. Almost 70% of paper and paperboard is recycled, but plastic recycling is left to below 10%. In 2018, 27 million tons of plastic was landfilled.

It is important to act for circular economy; to choose renewable raw materials and keep them in use and circulation as long as possible. Fibres can be used up to 7 times and they circulate well in the EU.
Recycling of non-renewable plastic is still insufficient. Most of the plastic waste goes to incineration or landfilling. Mistreated plastic may end up to nature and oceans.
Material recycling levels in Asia

Plastics
Collection and recycling of different materials are developing, but still fairly low in Asia, where over 30 million tons of plastic are mismanaged per year. Dumping materials to open landfills creates a risk of leakage or loss.

The world has a hidden problem

Only 1 % of the
tonnes of ocean plastic
floats on the surface.
A human ingests up to
microplastic particles
per year.

Reusability makes a difference – Less plastics and lower CO₂ emissions with Paptic®

If you offer your customers reusable Paptic® bags instead of single-use bags, they can use the same bag and support your brand for a longer time. Explore the massive environmental impact!
How many single-use bags does your business currently use per year?
100,000
Choosing Paptic® equals to
27,000 kg
less plastic.
How sustainable are your customers? How many times would they use a Paptic® bag?
10
Choosing Paptic® equals to
54,300 kg
less CO₂ compared to plastic bags.
Choosing Paptic® equals to
98,300 kg
less CO₂ compared to paper bags.
Choose the average bag size
We estimate that durable, flexible and moisture resistant Paptic® bags are used an average of 10 times. Paptic® bags can be used up to 50 times.
How is this calculated? E.g., if a Paptic® bag is reused 10 times, it means that a consumer only needs to buy one bag instead of 10 single-use plastic or paper bags. Make the right decision, and help your customer act responsibly.

How to make an impact with a simple choice

Globally, we use
160,000 plastic bags
every second.
The material of the bags we use, the number of times they are used, and how they are produced and recycled are all part of the global solutions.
How we pack our goods is also an opportunity to educate, build brands and make a social and practical impact on our clients' daily lives.

Consumers

Consumers drive the change towards sustainability.
of consumers have made their consumption habits more sustainable, and will likely continue to do so.
A simple act is to choose a bag made of renewable resources, use it as many times as possible and finally recycle the bag to extend the material’s lifecycle.

Retailers

You have a key role in enabling your customers to consume in a more sustainable manner.
of consumers expect brands to help them consume more responsibly, and of European consumers are willing to pay more for a sustainable option.
Give your customers a more sustainable option as a standard.

Brands

Your authenticity and values matter more than ever.
of consumers buy from brands who share their values.
Packaging communicates your values and thoughts to your customers as it is the first physical touching point with them.

Converters

Businesses and consumers are paying more and more attention to sustainability throughout the supply chain.
Evolution through material revolution – Produce sustainable packaging solutions on existing converting lines.

Plastic bags are still the most used single-use bag. It can be the cheapest choice but, unfortunately, at the expense of nature.
Plastic is an excellent material for many purposes but due to its limited recycling rates and non-biodegradable nature it should be used only where more sustainable materials are unavailable.
Plastic bags are now because they cause major environmental problems. For a plastic bag, it takes Most of the plastic that has ever been produced in the world is now in landfills or oceans, or elsewhere in the nature.
Recycling plastics has started to develop little by little. Still,
Traditionally plastic is made of fossil oil. Its lifecycle is problematic because it is causing microplastics and fossil CO₂ emissions.

Paper bags are made from wood. They are recyclable, biodegradable and made of renewable raw materials. Paper bags are neat and stay well in shape which is why businesses often use them for product packaging and branding.
Because of its deficiency in moisture resistance, the use of paper in packaging is limited.
Paper bags should be reused to match the average footprint of plastic bags. The problem is that paper bags often lack the durability to be used more than once or twice, resulting in a high total carbon footprint. Paper bags are also difficult to fold, which further limits reusability.

The durable textile bags, mostly made of cotton, are suitable for extended and active use.
The problem with cotton is and possible risk of unethical lines of production, leading to weakening drinking water resources and human rights issues. Largely used pesticides are a threat to biodiversity.
However, it is a good question whether cotton should be utilized in clothing instead of bags where other more sustainable alternatives are available.
Cotton, such as all the textile materials, are intended to be used for a long time to be sustainable. An average textile bag to match the footprint of a single-use plastic bag.
